Divine Purpose is often discussed using similar wording, such as:
We are going to discuss each of these terms today and sum up with a discussion on LIVING your Divine Purpose.
Class Outline:
The Meaning of Life
The search for the meaning of life is an attempt to satisfy the philosophical question of the purpose or significance of life itself, of existence. It proposes, “Why am I here?” Is there a reason mankind was created and a reason that I was born? Does my life have purpose? Am I here to accomplish something or live a certain way? Why do some things seems so important to me, and I don’t know why? How can I know if I’m living the life I am intended to live?
The answers to all these questions lie within each individual. These are the driving forces for your personal choices, goals and desires. The answer to the meaning of life is uniquely yours. There is not one correct answer. The meaning of life is what it means to you at this time in this place in this situation. The meaning of life is for now and for this lifetime. So, to know the meaning of life, you simply need to know yourself. Examine yourself without judgment. You are who you are. Accept this and allow yourself to look within, to contemplate and to explore what moves you to compassion, what stirs your heart with passion, what motivates you to go forth. These are, for you, the meaning of life, or at least the basis for it.
Your Life Mission
Your life mission is the product of your values, interests, hopes and aspirations. It is the focus of your life and the blueprint for your future. Your life mission is the reason you chose and agreed to this incarnation. It is the set of personal goals for this lifetime that you both came in with and have chosen since you arrived. To know your life mission is simply to know what matters most to you. If you were to list your three greatest accomplishments, desires, values and goals, you would have a basic structure from which you could identify your personal mission statement for this life.
Your Soul's Purpose
The soul’s purpose goes beyond the meaning of life. To understand the soul’s purpose, you must be willing to be open to possibility. Be willing to accept that being a soul has more meaning and more depth than you already are aware of. Embrace an unbiased perspective of the soul as an eternal life force. Release any preconceived ideas of what a soul might look like or how a soul might relate to life, and allow yourself to experience being a soul without discrimination. This generally has to take place in stages because it can be a huge paradigm shift. For most people, it is easiest to first accept the possibility that the soul exists beyond the death of the physical body.
Allowing yourself to consider possibilities that may go beyond any particular rigid religious beliefs, though may not be contrary to them, it is not so difficult to think of the soul as something that is capable of having consciousness and movement, and possessing the ability to move through solid objects like doors and walls. Moving beyond this nonphysical concept, you can consider the soul as being able to at least see through time and space, perhaps even between dimensions to other worlds or realities. Those who have had near-death experiences have returned with fascinating details of both the happenings surrounding their physical bodies at the time of death and other places and events beyond even the three-dimensional world we know. Others have experience this alternate plane of existence in dreams, meditations and trance-like states. I remember under hypnosis when I experienced leaving my body after death in a past life I said with astonishment, “I think I’m vapor!” It’s not that I was surprised that I might think that. I was surprised at how it felt.
If you can accept that you are a soul and that your soul, or spirit, continues to exist after this current life, then you might consider where your soul might have been before this life. Pondering the eternity of the soul, it is logical that you would have made certain choices for this life before being born. In fact, that is exactly what researchers, therapists and hypnotists all over the world are discovering. Not only do we, as eternal souls, make choices for this life; but we examine many possibilities through time and space.
Knowing your soul’s purpose is to accept a deeper meaning to life, a grander perspective. It is knowing much more than what this life is about. It is becoming familiar with the value of life in both the physical and the spiritual realms. It is being at peace with who you really are and at one with yourself and with all that exists. It is knowing that you are an individual and part of a collective of souls. The phrase “no man is an island” takes on a whole new meaning from the perspective of the soul. I don’t love my brother because he is my brother. I love him because he is me and I am him. I love him because we came into this physical incarnation together and we are united as souls on this journey. My soul’s plan is the purpose for which I chose this life, and it is the purpose for any life I choose here or there, physical or nonphysical, now or without regard to time.
Your Divine Plan
Understanding the divine plan requires us to accept divinity itself. The word “divine” pertains to God or a supreme being, heavenly or celestial. Divinity or divine nature is the celestial quality of being divine. Standing on the premise that divinity has a role in the development of souls, we are able to become aware of the thread or spark of divine nature within all of us. As eternal souls it is our birthright to know and follow our divine plan. We each have an individual and a collective divine plan. We are all here as human beings on this planet with a collective experience and consciousness; so we have a divine plan together. And any particular soul may have opportunities through eternity to have other experiences on other worlds that are not part of this collective. Each of us has a divine plan of our own.
We may not fully know all the details of our divine plan; but we have an internal guidance systems to keep us on course. We possess a conscious or an uneasiness deep within when we are acting in a manner that is inconsistent with our divine plan. We still have the freedom to choose as we wish; so can over-ride our inner navigation if we desire. That twinge of discomfort from within is the disquieting of the soul knowing that we are moving off-course. To know your divine plan, pay attention to these stirrings within. Be still and quiet as you contemplate your decisions and notice what feels right, what your heart tells you, what looks brightest to your mind’s eye. Following your divine plan was never meant to be hard or mysterious or worrisome. It is being who you truly are in every moment. The more practiced you become at moving through life with grace and ease, the easier it will be to live your divine plan.
Living Your Divine Purpose
Living your divine purpose is trusting your inner guidance and living each moment in harmony with your heart and soul. It is knowing that you have a sacred purpose for this life and for eternity, and understanding that you already chose your divine purpose. You already agreed to it. It is your true choice, the choice of your divine immortal soul. As you live your divine purpose you are keenly aware of sacred space. You feel a little uncomfortable outside of sacred space; so you find ways to exist within sacred space wherever you go. You take the time to nurture your soul, to listen to your heart and your higher self. You find moments to reflect on decisions and directions you have chosen. You pause before you move forward with something new to ask your inner self if this new venture will keep you in this sacred space of heart and soul at peace with the world. Living your divine purpose trusting in divine nature. It is praying, believing and knowing, all from within.
